Notice: New Sorting Rules at the Apartment's Garbage Area

Starting on the 1st of next month, a new sorting system will be introduced at the garbage collection area of our apartment building. Until now, residents simply sorted trash by sight, but from now on, when putting out garbage, please scan the QR code with your smartphone before disposing of it. If you put out the wrong type of garbage, there is a risk that it will not be collected, so please be careful. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation.

  • "~ことになりました" reports that a decision or change of rule has been made, often due to external circumstances rather than the speaker's own will, meaning 'it has been decided that ~'.
  • "~際に" is a formal equivalent of "~時に" ('when ~'), used in writing to indicate the occasion or situation in which an action takes place.
  • "~ようにしてください" politely requests that the listener make a habit of doing a certain action, meaning 'please make sure to ~'.
  • "~恐れがある" is a formal, written expression stating objectively that there is a possibility of an undesirable outcome, meaning 'there is a risk that ~'.
