English
A Ramen Shop in the Old Town
Last week, a friend invited me along, and I went to try a small ramen shop in the old part of town. Despite its old appearance, the inside was clean, with a calm atmosphere of counter seats only. The soy sauce ramen I ordered looked simple, but the soup's flavor was deep, with a richness as if it had been simmered for hours. Precisely because the owner runs the place alone, each and every bowl must be made with care. The price was also reasonable, so next time I'm in the area, I'd like to stop by again.
- ~わりに means 'considering ~' or 'for ~', expressing that the actual degree of something differs from what one would expect based on a preceding fact—either less or more than anticipated.
- ~からこそ means 'precisely because ~', strongly emphasizing that a particular reason, and no other, is the true cause of something.
- ~かのようだ means 'as if ~', describing something that gives the impression of being a certain way even though that is not actually the case.
