The Cat Who Kept Coming Back
Mr. Tanaka, who runs a vegetable shop, noticed a cat that always sat in the same spot every morning before he opened his store. At first, if he tried to get close, it would run away, but as he kept leaving small scraps of vegetables for it day after day, it gradually came to approach him. One morning, the moment Mr. Tanaka spoke to it, the cat looked startled and dashed off. For a week after that, the cat was nowhere to be seen, and only once it disappeared did Mr. Tanaka realize how much he had been looking forward to that little visitor.
