English
The Day I Got the Meeting Time Wrong
Today I mistakenly told everyone the wrong meeting time and ended up making my boss wait thirty minutes. Because I was so flustered, I sent the email without checking it carefully, which caused this mistake to happen. Looking back now, I think I really should have read it over once more before sending it. My boss didn't seem particularly angry and just said, 'Just be careful next time,' but I still felt down for a while afterward. So that I don't repeat the same mistake, from now on I plan to let important emails sit overnight before checking them once more and sending them.

- "~せいで" attributes the cause or blame for a bad result to a specific thing, meaning 'because of ~' (with a negative outcome).
- "~べきだった" expresses regret that one did not do something that should have been done in the past, meaning 'should have ~'.
