A New Sport Gaining Popularity Among Seniors

Last month, in a city in Saitama Prefecture, an experience session was held for a new sport called "pickleball," which combines table tennis and tennis. Many of the participants were seniors who tried it for the first time after being invited by their grandchildren. Because the racket is light and the ball moves slowly, people say it's popular for allowing enjoyment regardless of one's physical strength. On the other hand, while the number of courts is limited, the number of people wishing to participate keeps increasing, and the city is reportedly considering improving court facilities.

  • "~反面" means 'while on the other hand ~' or 'whereas ~', expressing that a single matter has two contrasting aspects, such as a positive side and a negative side.
