How to use

Designed to help you progress once you’re comfortable with the basics. Use it as supplementary material alongside your studies.

Pick a school grade or JLPT level and do this each day:

  1. Handwrite the passage in a notebook.
  2. Read the passage out loud.
  3. Understand the meaning of the passage (if you need help, check the English translation).
  4. Take note of the grammar points (try understanding them in Japanese first; if you need help, refer to the English translation).

スマートウォッチをつかってみたかんそう

せんげつ、けんこうかんりのためにスマートウォッチをかってみた。つかいはじめていらい、まいにちのほすうやすいみんのじかんがしぜんときになるようになった。とくにきにいっているのは、うんどうすればするほどがめんにちいさなおうえんメッセージがひょうじされるきのうだ。かかくはけっしてやすくないが、これをきっかけにはやおきするしゅうかんがついたので、かってよかったとおもう。ただ、バッテリーのへりかたがはやいのがすこしきになるてんだ。

文法

  • 「〜て以来いらい」は、ある出来事できごとが起おこった時ときから、その状態じょうたいや変化へんかが今いままでずっと続つづいていることを表あらわす表現ひょうげん。
  • 「〜ば〜ほど」は、前まえの事柄ことがらの程度ていどが増ますにつれて、後あとの事柄ことがらの程度ていども同おなじように増ましていくことを表あらわす表現ひょうげん。
  • 「〜をきっかけに」は、ある出来事できごとや経験けいけんが、新あたらしい行動こうどうや変化へんかが始はじまる直接ちょくせつの原因げんいんや機会きかいになることを表あらわす表現ひょうげん。

My Impressions After Trying a Smartwatch

Last month, I bought a smartwatch to manage my health. Ever since I started using it, I've naturally become conscious of my daily step count and sleep time. What I especially like is that the harder I exercise, the more little cheering messages appear on the screen. The price is definitely not cheap, but thanks to this purchase, I've developed the habit of waking up early, so I think it was worth buying. However, one thing that bothers me a little is how quickly the battery runs down.

  • "~て以来" means 'ever since ~', expressing that a state or change has continued without interruption from the time a certain event happened up until now.
  • "~ば~ほど" means 'the more ~, the more ~', expressing that as the degree of one thing increases, the degree of another thing increases correspondingly.
  • "~をきっかけに" means 'triggered by ~' or 'taking ~ as an opportunity', expressing that a certain event or experience becomes the direct cause or occasion for a new action or change to begin.
