  4. Take note of the grammar points (try understanding them in Japanese first; if you need help, refer to the English translation).

Summer at the Sea

During summer vacation, I went to the sea with my family. Early in the morning, we got on a bus. At the sea, I went swimming. I found lots of white shells. In the evening, I watched fireworks. It was so much fun.

  • The particle へ marks the direction or destination of movement, similar to 'to' in English. It is used after a place, followed by a verb of movement like 行く.
  • The particle で marks the place where an action takes place. Here, 海で means 'at the sea' as the location of the action すいえいをしました.
  • とても + adjective (past form) is used to strongly emphasize a feeling or state, meaning 'very ~'. 楽しかったです means 'it was very fun.'
